The first meeting held on 23 January this year heralded the Annual Branch Photographic Competition, judged by Ian Pratt LRPS. In this Ken Lowe won the first prize, the Phil Fricker Shield, with a photo of the hopper barge, the Wyre River. Ken also swept up the second prize, the Eric Brett Memorial Cup, with an image of the Serco tug, SD Christina. Sadly, because of a rare evening meeting, the event drew fewer members than usual.
