Over the past 60 or so years, the World Ship Society has published close to 150 books and monographs. Many of the earler publications are now out of print, but there are still a large number of interesting books - both merchant and naval - that are available direct from the Society. Most of these books cover subjects like shipping company histories, which appeal to a wide audience, while others may be detailed technical books that only a serious researcher would be interested in owning.
Cast your eye over the list of "WSS Books Available", and consider purchasing one or more of them direct from the Society. All listed publications are in stock, although some are in short supply and could be sold out before we receive your order. So don't wait - order today.
In addition to the "WSS Books Available" the Society publishes a long list of miscellaneous publications on various subjects. Check the sub-categories under Publications within the list to the left.
Check out the section to the left marked "PUBLICATIONS - Publication Search" where we list all the publications posted to our various website pages, and where to locate the item within those pages.
Our naval division publishes a three-times-a-year magazine called Warships for those who have an interest in naval affairs.
Our Small Craft Group publish several items dealing with this specific subject.
A volunteer publishes an Index to Marine News each year, which is made available to other members. This index lists all the vessels mentioned in our monthly magazine. Paper versions of the Index from Volume 1 to Volume 62 can be purchased direct from the volunteer(s).
The World Ship Society also publishes a long list of Registers of Ships from the Starke/Schell series, and makes these available in both paper format and by way of CD or disc.
Another volunteer sells detailed listings of Ship Yard construction. These lists are sold separately by Shipyard, and list all the known vessels to be constructed at that yard.
But by far the largest number of books listed has to be the items published privately by members of the World Ship Society. We have a very active group of writers amongst our membership, and the subjects range from small handbooks to large tabletop versions, covering just about every subject possible. We list some of these books under "Member Publications" as items of interest only, and do not buy or sell these items. The listings for each item will indicate the publisher and other pertinent information.
