The Shipyard List Project was started a number of years ago by a small team of Society members who, privately and for their own interest, became engaged in the compilation of yard lists of shipbuilders world wide, many long since closed while others are still in operation today. To date they have worked on some seven hundred yards and these yard lists are now incorporated into the Society’s Central Record. Photocopies are available to interested members. As further research is carried out, new lists will continued to be added to this catalogue by regular Supplements, issued at four / five monthly intervals. Lists which have recently been updated will also be notified through these Supplements.
Many of the early lists were either hand written or typed and these are slowly being computerised and generally updated. The Official Number is now being added where available and the intention is to continue this process of improvement. Those lists already revised are shown in the catalogue with a date of upgrading. There still remains minor variations in the layout and content but all lists contain the following detail as far as possible, Yard Number, Original Name, Official Number, Launch Date, Month and Year of Completion, Tonnage, Hull Material, Power Source, Type of Vessel, and Original Owner.

A printed copy of an up to date catalogue can be obtained at any time by sending a S.A.E. (3 x 2nd Class Stamps or 2 IRC’s) to the above address. Yard lists are available at 12p per A4 page plus postage and packaging in accordance with the following P & P schedule applicable from 1st January, 2008 onwards.

List Shipyard Period Pages Updated
Use the search feature to locate a specific list. In the first option click onto "Shipyard" and then enter a keyword for the list you are looking for, then press the "Search" button.
The complete list can be downloaded as a MSExcel file by right-clicking within the chart, and choosing the option of "Export to Microsoft Excel". You can then use your personal copy of the list to sort into the order that best suits your needs.
